The Buffalo River state park is one of Minnesota’s finest and largest remnant prairies. It is about 15 miles west from the metropolitan area of Fargo. This is a park for prairie lovers who can listen for bobolinks, prairie chickens, marbled godwits, and upland sandpipers. South of the park there is the Bluestem Prairie Scientific and Natural Area — one of the last native prairies in the state of Minnesota. It offers a unique glimpse of the past vast prairies, which once covered a whole lot more.
